CoinKeeper now have Financial Goals! Finally, you can start tracking your savings for a journey, a beach house or education.

In this article we describe:

  • what are Financial Goals and how to work with them in the app?
  • what can be your Goal?
  • in what way Financial Goal will be developed further.

How to create Goal?

Financial Goals are made to help you save up money for the future expenses. After you complete the Goal, your money will be transfered into account you choose and will be available to spent.

To add a Goal tap “plus” icon in the the expense category area. Then switch category type to Financial Goal. Name it, set up sum you want to put by and choose a currency of savings. For instance, I want to buy a bike, so you see Goal named “Bike” on the screen below.

How to save up money?

Saving up for something isn’t a picnic. It requires patience and habit of working with you goals continually. Try to put by a little money on your goal every single day. It will help you make your dream come true easily.

As you reaching the goal its outline is filling with color. On the picture below you can see that we saved up $150, while outline is 20% filled with colour.

You can transfer money to Goal from the different accounts. Your accumulations will be substracted from the balance. However both account balances will be available.

Yellow value displays how much money do you have without taking into account saved up means. Grey value shows how much money you might have if you cancel the goal and transfer all the savings into some account. For instance, if I didn’t save up for the bike, I would have $2 975 on my Credit Card.

Accumulation history

Tap your Goal icon and you’ll see two buttons: Cancel and Accumulated…%. Accumulated…% displays your progress of saving up and allows you to finish your Goal. Cancel button helps you to return your money to the accounts, from where money were transferred, without deleting the Goal.

You can also check up transaction history of the Goal. To cancel some of the transactions, just delete them from the category history or Feed.

I reached the goal… what’s next?

Next step is simply to complete the goal and invest money in your dream. To finish the goal tap Accumulated…% or Finish, in case you managed to save up the whole sum. All saved money will be accumulated on the account you choose. If you transferred money from the only account, they will be available there.

How can I use Goals?

There are limitless ways to use Goals. We give you some examples oт how you can begin to work with FinancialGoals in CoinKeeper.

  1. Save up for the things you love and always wanted to have! For instance, iPhone 5se or concert of a beloved band can be your goal for the March.
  2. Financial Goals will help you plan compulsory expenses for the current period. For example, you can put by money for the appartment rent. This way you can accumulate them in your Goals and be sure you won’t be in debt at the end of the period.
  3. Create a goal for the huge planned expense, e.g. holiday trip or car insurance.
  4. If you always save up money, but don’t record them you can start to track your savings in CoinKeeper. Rainy day account can also be treated as an Goal.

More about Financial Goals

What is the limit of Goal categories?

We increased the limit on number of expense categories and Financial Goals till 10 icons for the free version of CoinKeeper. There is no limit on any categories for the premium users.

What will be with the Goals from CoinKeeper Classic?

Financial Goals from the CoinKeeper Classic will be placed in accounts area. That’s why you’ll need to transfer your goal’s history into new Financial Goal. Created in new CoinKeeper version Financial Goals won’t be displayed in Classic one.

Further development of Financial Goals

Transactions to the Financial Goals cannot be recurred now. In next updates we want to add recurring periods to such transactions, so that you won’t bother yourself with adding the same transactions over and over again.

Your saving accumulation will be also available in Statistics. It’ll help to track , how fast do you accomplish your Goal. It’ll be also possible to forecast approximate date of completing the Goal, taking into account your spade of saving up money. This way it’ll be easy to estimate, when your fulfil your dream.
